Get symptom relief from your Fibromyalgia Syndrome
If you have been diagnosed with FMS, you already know the many things it isn't. And you also know the symptoms that you have finally enabled your physician to make that diagnosis. Traditional treatments aim at improving the quality of your sleep and reducing your pain. Recent research confirms that a multidisciplinary approach to treating FMS provides the greatest relief from symptoms and the best prognosis. This approach includes improving the quality of sleep, proper nutrition, physical conditioning, deep relaxation, and positive mental imagery. By combining therapies, you can often return to a healthier state and a more active lifestyle. Conventional medicine alone has not yet been able to alleviate FMS symptoms adequately. However, hypnotherapy in conjunction with traditional medicine can produce remarkable results in symptom alleviation. Hypnotherapy is NOT considered a "cure" for Fibromyalgia, but it is an effective method for symptom management. This therapy is scheduled by referral or prescription from your physician and in conjunction with his regular treatment.
How long does it take?
Typically, twelve to fourteen sessions are suggested, depending on the severity of the symptoms and the length of time from the beginning of the first symptoms. The first three or four sessions are once a week and concentrate on the alleviation of pain and increasing beneficial sleep. The next two sessions reinforce the need for proper exercise and nutrition, and they begin the balance of the sessions that are spaced every two weeks. This allows the positive suggestions to work, and each session varies in focus depending on your immediate needs. Each session is recorded, and a CD is given to you to be used as reinforcement between sessions. It is important that you schedule your appointments within a day or two of the scheduled time to prevent the undermining of the suggestions given in the previous session.
