Hypnosis Houston Irritable Bowel Syndrome IBS Pain Control Management

Got IBS? Get Hypnotized - It Just Might Help!*
Get symptom relief from your Irritable Bowl Syndrome writes Alice L. Kelly in the March 2004 issue of Health Magazine, citing the study of Peter J. Whorwell, M.D., and a team of researchers at the University Hospital of South Manchester, England, which showed that "...hypnosis significantly reduced the symptoms and the need for medication."

Continuing, "...a 1996 statement by the American Gastroenterological Association suggests that hypnotherapy is generally accepted as a treatment for IBS."

"I'm a believer," says gastroenterologist Cynthia M. Yoshida, M.D., Director of the Women's G.I. Clinic at the Digestive Health Center of Excellence at the University of Virginia, Charlottesville. "Most people in the field will tell you it's not just medicine that does it [for IBS]."

How long does it take with hypnosis?
It might take as long as four sessions before the client notices symptom relief - but it is possible for many to notice symptom relief after the first session. It's generally agreed that six to ten sessions, spaced two weeks apart, has proven to be an effective treatment period. You must have time to practice the suggestions given in both the conscious and trance states. Each session is recorded, and you are given a CD to use as reinforcement between sessions. It is important that you schedule appointments within a day or two of the second week to prevent the undermining of the suggestions given in the previous session. Would you like more information?

Please note: IBS will only be treated by a doctor referral.
